PDF Crochet pattern for the 'Clout Chaser' Sweater. Pattern includes sizes S/M-2XL/3XL. The most striking thing about about the piece is it's gorgeous faux brioche stitch that is 100% crochet, as well as wide sleeves and seamless ribbing. This is not a beginner pattern, and you should be a confident intermediate to advanced crocheter. To get the brioche look you work a modified yarn over slip stitch, tutorial for the stitch can be found in the IGTV section of my instagram @honsedesign
This pattern is made with an 8mm, and uses approximately 720 meters of bulky/cat 5 weight yarn and 720 meters of worsted/cat 4 weight yarn (or yarns held together amounting to the same weight) for size L/XL. It is a written pattern with step by step instructions, no images for each step. It is in English and uses standard US terminology, with specifics given in both metric and imperial units.
I come from a time before smartphones and instagram, the internet I grew up on had very little to offer besides myspace, flash games and very niche forums. A lot has changed since then, but the way we rely on shock value to push our content hasn't. To really seen, and make a name for yourself you have to push the boundaries, show something that has never been seen before. I wanted to capture the need of staying relevant, constantly produce new content while simultaneously working in an art medium that is as slow and old as the dial up internet of the early 00's. And while a two toned brioche sweater isn't new, a crocheted version is at least something I have never seen before and is a firm way to position myself as a Clout Chaser.
