THE NEW AND IMPROVED KEITH VEST!! It features a straight fit with open sides, slightly longer oversize body and a funky faux knit look. While this is not a beginner pattern, if you are comfortable reading written instructions, it’s simple enough for your first bigger project working the stitches used. This pattern requires more endurance and tenacity than actual crochet experience.
SizesTo fit chest:
75 (85) 95 (105) 115 (125) 135 (145) 155 cm
Chest measurement of garment, straight across, not including the side straps
46 (51) 56 (61) 66 (70) 73 (76) 79 cm
In order to not have the shoulders extend into an extreme drop shoulder, the vest will not cover as much of the chest/back for chest sizes over 125 cm as it will do for chest sizes 155 cm and under. To offset the difference, you’ll instead make longer side straps.
Length, center back
68 (71) 71 (72) 74 (77) 77 (80) 80
Keep in mind that the front of the vest is slightly shorter than the back
I am 176cm tall, with a chest measurement of 82cm and I am wearing size 95cm.

Slip stitch - insert hook in the advised loop, pull yarn through all loops on hook.
Third loop - the third loop can sit on either the front of your work, if you’re working flat, or at the back if you’re working in the round. For the body of the vest you’ll work in the third loop at the front, and for the ribbings your connecting stitches you’ll work in the third loop at the back. Video instructions on how to find the third loop is available in the ”Techniques” highlight of my instagram @honsedesign
This pattern is worked in one panel side to side, starting at the right side. You’ll then separate the work into front and back, which are later gathered to work the left side. Once the body is done, you’ll work a set up row from which the ribbings are worked. Finally you’ll make side straps that are sewn in place.
A close friend and I have an inside joke about a Keith. Keith is not a person, per se, but more of a shadow being to pin our problems on. A manifestation of our inner critic so to speak. For the longest time I was scared to make gender inclusive patterns, as I felt I didn’t have the experience. So when I finally did, and this piece was born, it felt natural to name it after the voice in the back of my mind who always doubts my abilities, as a way to both embrace them and show them who’s boss.
